Meet the Walorzs'

As a photographer, we just don't wait for opportunities to come to us. We often find ourselves looking for potential clients. While in a Facebook Wedding Group. I happen to stumble across a story about a Navy couple whose plans failed when they both received word, they were going to both have to leave for an assignment due to Military Orders.

They had a dream wedding planned and knew that it would be nearly impossible to put in for leave, both for the same day for a later event. Everything changed. They had to cancel everything they had booked for their big day, all of their plans were now dreams again.

Ian's Mother, decided somehow after being financially strained from losing all retainers and money she thought well spent, she was going to give her son and future daughter in law the wedding her son and her both the wedding they so much deserved, and quick.

She posted a story on Facebook trying to search out for affordable ways to make their big day come true. I happen to read their story. I was so moved by it, being from a large Military family myself, and Dandelion Weddings + Co. being Military Co-Owned, I knew I had to reach out to her. I offered to do this elopement at no charge. When I contacted Christine she was in disbelief! She couldn't believe I was for real.

Christine and I started planning immediately, we were on a short timeline to get everything together to make this happen. Lin Lewis of Mobile Marriages came aboard and officiated for the lovely couple and allowed us to use her home for the ceremony due to the rain.

Following the nuptials, we all went back to their hotel near the USS Yorktown and followed with a gorgeous portrait session in the rain. We did not let the rain stop us. We created looks for timeless images and forever memories for this very special couple.

This is the season of giving, and I am a firm believer what you give you will receive in return. Doing a good deed never hurt anyone. She couldn't believe it when I told her I would do this for them. I had an important doctor's appointment, so I called my physician prior and told him I needed a tele-health visit later in the day so I could pull this off for them. I got everything arranged to be there for their very special day on December 21st in Charleston. Ian is a native of North Carolina and Deriecka is originally from HI.

I would like to specially thank all of the vendors who made this beautiful couple's dream come true! Keepsake Florist in Charleston, Mobile Marriage by Lin Lewis, and Embassy Suites in Mt. Pleasant, who also allowed us to have free range of the hotel for pictures to keep us out of the rain.

If you believe, dreams can always come true. Congratulations Ian + Deriecka! We wish you both many years of happiness and we appreciate your service.
